Flash CS5 issue.

Posted by Xionico - August 1st, 2011

So I began using Flash CS5 (Kinda late, I know, I've never been one to use new-released programs.) and while messing with it as one usually would, I noticed something weird.

The timeline isn't interactive, like previous releases. (aka, when you hold left click and scrolled in the timeline, the animation would move accordingly, but it doesn't in this one.)

This may sound like a small issue to some, but it's kinda annoying me, I've looked for answers in google and messing with Flash's properties, but I can't seem to find the reason.

Does anyone know if this can be changed? if so, mind telling me how?

Thanks!

P.d. Ah yeah, XM4 is coming along nicely :D

For me works like that :S Really dont know how, if you didnt change anything of the configuration try reinstalling or dont know :/

Damn! I'm sure I just pressed "Next- next" when installing it ;/ and I just installed it an hour ago, oh well, I'll try to solve that D: thanks!

I HATE CS5. It's the worst. I've been using it for a little while now, and it takes some getting used to. I recommend first switching the setup to "classic" mode. It's more like Flash 8.

Anyway, to use the interactive feature in CS5, you can't scroll through by highlighting frames on the timeline. Instead, if you drag the red frame marker from the top, you can scroll through your flash like that. It's that little red keyframe at the very top of the timeline panel where all the frame numbers are (5, 10, 15, 20, etc.). It has a red line hanging down from it, marking what frame you're on. That's the one you have to use.

Hopefully the way I explained that made sense. If not, PM me and I'll send you a screenshot or something.

Hope that helps! Lookin forward to XM4.

Indeed, CS5 has left a bad taste >;/ But the problem is that I need it for the office I'm working at xD haha.

Thanks for the info! And I found out a CS5.5 that allows me to scroll frames the old-fashioned way, awesome.

Thanks!

The little red box above the animation with a red line going down is your scrubber, click that red box and drag it around. The timeline should scrub accordingly, if not then your cs5 is messed.

Gotcha :D! Thanks!

From what i gather you've sorted the problem :p. What programs like flash taught me is: Dont try to reinvent the wheel, just make keep it round.

Lookin forward to XM4 :D. best of luck.

Flash 8 still my favourite.

I still use flash 8 :)

XM4 is probably gonna be even gayer of a power rangers meets animgay (see what i did there) meets madnus just perfect for those 11 year olds to jerk off to

all i care is that u get XM4 out on time!!!!

Just finished watching Xionic Madness 3 as I've been away from Newgrounds for a while and just wanted to say that it was incredible. Your production quality has improved so much.

I'm a little confused as to what happened between 2 and 3 though.

I'm still using Flash MX which I got from my Neighbor back in '04. As for CS3+, I'm not trusting those from stories of export issues, crashing, etc.

Just don't lose it this time :)
ps. Check out the comments on your earlier news posts

Also one bad thing in CS5 its when u make a group from a few objects, and try to rotate/move it objects in gruopslightly moves away from other objects. And that is real problem.
Flash 8 4ever)
